I don't think the number of owners is too important on a car of that age. What's the condition like? Is it at a dealer or being sold privately? Can you find out how long the last owner had it for? That to me is the most important thing - if the previous owner has only kept it a short time then you would do best to understand why that is. Could be because they couldn't afford to run it, or could be for a greater reason such as unreliability. |

It's being sold privately and appears to be in excellent condition. Current owner is an American who has been working in UK for a year, he bought it in Oct 2010 but is heading back to the states. Is £12500 a fair asking price? |

lots of owners is not necessarily a bad thing. I bought my 76,000 mile, 2002 TD6 sight unseen 2 yrs ago with 6 previous owners and no service history. It has been almost faultless (EAS compressor change is all) and seems to have been well looked after and not stressed - no towing etc. that's what to look for - if it looks shabby then it has probably not been well looked after but if the main mechanics and the interior seem ok then test everything and see how it fares. It seems a bit steep price-wise. You can check the auction prices at www.brightwells.com (add 5% for buyers fee).

I agree, owners is not always a huge issue.

If the condition is good the price seems fair.

Owners can build quickly in the prestige world due to tendency to buy on a whim as a second car/toy and do not mean that its a bad car. At higher price levels it can effect time to sell but not at £12500. Get it RAC Checked then buy it! (Bargain) |

Ours has had 4 previous owners and it doesn't bother me in the slightest. As has been said, people buy cars on a whim, only to sell them on when a newer better specced version comes out. Most are on finance anyway, so they just hand em back and get a new one, keeping up the payments. 2010 MY Vogue SE TDV8 3.6 Stornoway Grey- fully loaded |
