Driver side split so replace them both with Bosch aero twin ar24u and ar20u

What a difference!

Much quieter and no smearing or juddering

Did look at vipa and originals but at £22 the pair from euro car parts I couldn’t go wrong

I have the same on mine plus the AR17U on the rear. Great blades  Kev

Based on Stans recommendation I put Vipa on my Disco and they are excellent. 2017 5.0 Autobiography Supercharged
2005 Merc SL350
2005 Disco HSE 2.7 oil burner

I got Vipa and they are not so good always leaving a blurry spot in from of me, I of course blame Stan

Just ordered some Bosch ones from wiperblades.co.uk to see if they are any better. Geoff

I have just replaced a pair of Bosch blades, after having performed near perfectly for 3 years and just under 70,000 miles. The only problem was that they were leaving a near invisible smear that meant that the rain sensor would keep the wipers on all the time in the “intermittant” setting.
On went a new pair of Viper blades and what a difference! Both blades left significant areas unwiped, where the blade wouldn’t remain against the screen (sure fire MoT failure), they both juddered and the passenger side blade clicked loudly as it changed direction. On the plus side, the intermittant setting worked again!
I left them in place for a week, until I was able to retrieve the 3 year old Bosch blades from the bin and put them back on. Problem solved
The Viper blades are now in the bin, with a new pair of Bosch blades on order.

I thought it was just me that was having a problem with the Vipa blades so reassuring to hear this, I also get a smear right in the middle of the drivers side view.. I've got an MOT coming up (just replaced all 4 tyres) but I have ordered the Bosch blades so will keep you all posted how I get on. Geoff

I have to agree, my new one has come with new Vipa blades and it is awful, they sound like an 80's Cortina.... SLAP, SLAP, SLAP at every change of direction and smearing like I've never seen before, also wipers staying on because of the smears....

Will be going in the bin soon.... Bosch will replace them....  Pete

You mean a 70’s Cortina I think, production of the Mk4 ended in 1979

Or, maybe it just took a couple of years before they went all clikety-clack, so you are right!  “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” -where’s the fun in that?

Do I get any "anal" points for adding that the Cortina Mk IV "80" ran from 1980 to '82, until the launch of the Sierra?

That looks like a Cortina Crusader, I know because I used to have one as my company car. I think I still have a couple of the wheel trims because some scallywag nicked two (not forgiven or forgotten) It was actually dubbed the Mk5 and it was slightly different to the Mk4. Geoff
