2007 Range Rover HSE 4.4 V8 Buckingham Blue
Clicking noise coming from undercarriage

This issue has been fixed so I wanted to share my experience - 2007 L322 4.4

started hearing a small clicking noise coming from underneath. The shop insisted it was not the front drive shaft so due to some excess grease around the front passenger cv, they replaced the entire cv..... the clicking persisted, took it to a second shop and they said it was not the driveshaft and it could be the cv was not properly installed.

Im not an idiot but I will admit I pretend to be a mechanic more often than not after owning a LR for 16 years. I crawled underneath and the drive shaft had almost no play. You couldn't feel any up and down motion. so I moved it like a shake weight and it had the smaller amount of play, enough for me to imagine it was built in to account for off road height.

I ordered a new front drive shaft from Lucky8 and would you look at that, no more clicking noise.

I think I paid 250 for the shaft, 60 for the bolts from LR and 300 for labor.

Hope this helps someone
