Hello guys

I have noticed two sounds on my 4.4 TDV8, which may or may not have the same culprit. At first I thought they were normal?

The first sound appears on initial start up after a few minutes idling on the drive ... and is like the USS enterprise going into warp drive with a gradually increasing pitch whining noise which I thought at first was the first turbo spooling up. The sound seems to be coming from underneath the car on the driver side behind the driver's wheel. Blipping the accelerator stops it.

The second sound ... is like a boy racer's wastegate whooshing at around 2600-2900 rpm. Again I initially attributed that to the second turbo spooling up but an indy suggested that is not normal and suspected a hose. Again from in the cabin the sound seems to be coming from the right hand (driver side) underneath the car. Which makes me think both sounds are from the same hose?

If anyone could point me in the right direction it would be appreciated. I recently replaced the oil cooler so inspected the four donut/plenum hoses and they did not appear to have any splits or leaks and I have taped the intake spigot (there was some black crud under the bottom of the sealing ring) and the seal is good. But again the sound appears to be coming from the right side of the car not centrally. And the second sound seems to be originating from behind me?

Thanks Jaguar ... Possibly for sound one (although no bearing type rattles just a steadily increasing whine) so I better look out for the white walkers .

But at 2600-2900 its a definite 'wastegate type' whooshing sound.

I will try and record the sounds.

The first sound has actually changed since I bought the car it was more pronounced at first and made you jump if you were near the car because it sounded like it was about to launch into hyperspace with no driver

I have also been having Restricted Performance notifications but they occur randomly and not just one code.
