Beginning to strongly look at an L405, but it’ll likely be an early SDV8. Reading through the forum, I see there are comments about the early ones maybe not having the drain mod done on the original factory build. That then leaves the possibility its been done later on vehicles I look at, or maybe not done at all.

But will I be able to see whether the mod is present on the engine when I go and look at them? I don’t mind sticking my head into the engine bay to look, or sticking my hand down and in and feeling for it.

Where should I be looking ?
