How to put the air vent silver trim back?

Got in the car this morning and the silver trim on the air vent direction button has popped out onto the floor.

I cannot figure out how to get it back in - any tips? Are the clips known for going over time and super glue is my best friend?

I can see the little black tabs inside which the silver clips are presumably supposed to click onto but it keeps pushing out again.

I've had a couple of these fall out as well. On both of mine, the tiny clip on the silver trim has broken on one side which meant it couldn't clip in place. Luckily I had some spares from a replacement air vent I bought ages ago for another job. Drives:

My clips aren't broken - it just doesn't seem to want to clip in. Does it need some force? 2015 Range Rover Autobiography 4.4 SDV8

Apologies for hijacking, does anyone know if these clips are sold individually? I've totally lost one!

Thanks

The bay of E for the silver vents, if there not broken pull the whole front vent cover off and refit the little clips back in place. Not as fiddly as you think but you do need to remove the whole vent.

How does it help removing the whole plastic trim when the silver bit is on the front of the vent? What am I missing here? 2015 Range Rover Autobiography 4.4 SDV8

Thanks Gsxr1250Dave, I have not seen just the silver trim bit, only complete front vent assemblies on the Bay. Is there a search term I should be using? 2010 Range Rover TDV8 Baltic Blue Autobiography (2011 MY) - SOLD Sad

These are available on Aliexpress from many different suppliers. This listing is for the Freelander 2 and one can simply remove the silver trim and fit it to your existing vehicle.

This wasn't the right guidance to sort the problem.

Over time and heat expansion and contraction, the plastic changes shape and will no longer retain the silver trim. Taking off sections of the dash will make no difference.

The solution is to gentle apply some gorilla glue to the clips on the silver trim and re-insert. Problem solved. 2015 Range Rover Autobiography 4.4 SDV8
