Laptop software

Hello (again)

When I had my old L322 4.4 I had software on my laptop and a "special" OBD2 cable that allowed me to do things like program the follow-me-home lights and the like. That was a long time and a couple of laptops ago and I'm wondering what I need for my "new" 2008 3.6 TDV8 L322. Can someone point me in the right direction please (and will my "BMW" OBD2 cable still work, or will I need a new one)?

TIA

If it sticks, force it. If it breaks, it needs replacing anyway.

The GAP IID is the tool of choice on the later models for fault codes and enabling features. Not something you would want to be without IME and will pay for itself very quickly. 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322)

I have Land Rover’s T4, Blackbox Solutions Faultmate, and the GAP IID.

My preferred system is Faultmate for doing any changes to the systems. The IID Tool is left in the car as a quick to hand fault clearing tool.

T4 is rarely used. Ron B. VK2OTC

Thanks for that but the faultmate is *definitely* out of budget for now!

Gone for the GAP IID. Download GAP connect for my iPhone and also the PC software.

(All this to change the follow-me-home! Rolling with laughter )

I found an old copy of RAVE on my computer, but it won't run in Windows 11. Will have to drop Win7 on a spare laptop...

Thanks again for the comments. Hopefully picking the car up tomorrow if the V5 arrives so I can transfer my number on to it straight away. Tym

Will RAVE run in Compatibility Mode? It won’t run in Win 10 except in Compatibility Mode. There are some posts about that.

I also have the workshop manuals (as PDFs, not RAVE) on my iPad. Ron B. VK2OTC

look for Rave in PDF - better and newer than standalone with Adobe 4
