4.4 v8 m62 cam chain tensioner replacement

Nice easy job changing the tensioner according to Youtube etc... taking it off is easy enough, can't get the new one in... clue is in the title, how the f%$k do you screw the new tensioner in?! Just can't get enough pressure on the crown nut for it to catch on the thread! Ten minutes taking the old one out and now two hours and cursing the Germans, still no joy. Any advice, other than "take the engine out" or "chuck a match at it" would be gratefully received.

Update.... found a short youtube on locking the tensioner, bit vague but after a few attempts, success! Tensioner is now fitted. The tensioner shaft has a c clip at the end which if pushed down with finger nail as shaft is retracted, catches in a slightly wider groove which locks with a groove in the tensioner body and locks shaft. Best way I can explain. The tensioners come locked but like most peeps, we want to compare it to the old one and so push the end and out it pops, don't attempt fitting it unlocked unless you have several hours to waste? Seen a few on YT struggle to refit.

I'm worried there was something wrong the one I fitted the other week now as that wasn't a struggle getting in at all. Shocked

If you took it out of the box and fitted straight away then it was probably locked in place or, like me you took it a part to have a good look at it and possibly lost the spring? If your engine doesn't sound like a bag of spanners then your OK? Mine is a lot quieter but I still need to change the dreaded guides.
