I was going to do a two year review… the moment passed and anyway coming up to near three in August.
So today I had the brake pads replaced by a JLR recognised indi. 29750 miles. I thought 30k was a little early to be changing.
The warning light came on just before Xmas and this was the first date mutually agreeable.
As usual I thought there would be tons of warning… actually not much.. nearly out of brake pad

The rear pads needed replacing the front are still good. The indi has had limited experience on the new L460’s , but those he has had seem to wear the rear pads first & 30k was about right. He did say the warning lights are unpredictable , sometimes lots of warning, other times not so much.. depends how the wire wiggles (technical term)
Tyres are astonishingly brilliant About half way thru their life…. Unbelievable. The boss used to work in the tyre biz in Germany, and he reackon the tyres ordered by the factories for new cars are made with a different compound. Longer lasting. I would normally be watching and considering changing tyres around the 30k something mark.
I also asked him to check the oil dilution as he was there. He said no worries it was just 2.. ( no idea of the measurement scale) . Last service was April/may 2024. It’s a two year cycle. Seems the oil dilution kit is working correctly.
Bowled into a near by dealer as passing, nice dark grey ( almost black) 350 AB with fridge on offer but the price gap tween trade in and new is too much to seriously consider… anyway mine seems (touch wood) to be functioning perfectly correctly, so why bother? Interestingly. Not that many 350 diesels around…still they wanted to deal, but I refrained. Just! . I’m pretty sure they sold the grey whilst I was there anyway.
It’s still a beautiful car all be it in black with added black & black wheels and internal leather . Not a colour I would spec before, but certainly one I would irderagain. The JLR black is really quite special with the impregnated multicolour flakes… All in all the car is doing everything it should do without a hitch. Therefore no contact with Mr Misery in my stealer, thus life and the car is good….. famous last words! Filters are in fact so good that in certain circumstances, when the ambient air is already polluted, a diesel car will tend to extract more particles from the air than it emits. Emissions Analytics worked with........etc etc
