EVRI

Thought I would share my experience with Evri for delivering me some car parts.

Anyone that has been following my project page (below) will note that my car is currently off the road due to a CV boot failure.

As the car was not really driveable I dismantled it about 10 days ago when I ordered the parts. I also ordered some service items at the same time as I like to make the order worthwhile and I could probably change the oil again.

Parts ordered from Autodoc on the 15th (a friday). Autodoc are in Germany.

By the 18th (Monday), EVRI had the parcel meaning that it had made it's way from Germany to the UK in 3 days.

I thought this is great! Will be here soon and the car will be back together. This is where the aggravation begins.

No updates from EVRI for a week and then I get an update saying the parcel is at the delivery depot on Friday 22nd at 03:20 am.
Then I get another update saying it's been delayed Friday Midday,
Then I get another update saying it's at the delivery depot Friday 4pm
Then I get another update saying it's been delayed Saturday 10am
Then I get another update saying it's at the delivery depot Monday 2:38 pm
Then I get another update saying it's been delayed Tuesday 11.12am
Then I get another update saying it's at the delivery depot Wednesday 3.22pm

No idea whether it's coming or not.

EVRI do not have a number to contact them directly on, they have an automated service and when you enter the tracking number, it just says the exact same thing as the last entry on the tracking site and then cuts you off. Same with the online chat service.

I need the car for Saturday which means I've had to order another set of CV boots from John Craddock and hope they get here soon.

I've never ever known a carrier to be as bad as EVRI. They rebranded themselves from Hermes as they were widely critisised for losing parcels and treating people's packages like rubbish, chucking them over fences, leaving them in bins etc.

My advice is to avoid them at all costs and if a seller you are thinking of buying from uses EVRI, look elsewhere.

Wholeheartedly agree. They've "lost" two bikes for us in the last month - the original and a replacement. They actually appeared at the end of our drive with the replacement. I saw them and waited for them to get out. But instead they drove off and marked the delivery as "There's a problem with your address". And the bike was never heard of again. Even if you get the supplier to contact them - which they seem to be able to do - it makes no difference.

Then around the same time we ordered a garden table and chairs from JL. The chairs were delivered by JL within a couple of days but the table - for some reason - came via EVRI. Delay and unable to deliver again. In the end we had a full refund as they simply couldn't get the table to us... 2016 Skoda Octavia VRS Estate

Evri is Hermes rebranded.

So no surprises unfortunately. The courier of last resort. Graham

Ive never had a good experience with Autodoc, I've used them 3 times and definitely no more.

EVRI I use quite a bit for my online sales and overall they're pretty good, there are just one or two areas that are consistently bad, for those areas I use Yodel instead. BMW i3 Electric Car

I’ve had similar issues with AutoDoc, they never deliver anything within 2 weeks.

I agree Evri are useless, I’ve just had problems with them delivering something here today too but personally I’d never use AutoDoc again. 2002 4.6 Vogue SE - Alveston Red with Lightstone Leather

Interesting reading the comments re EVRI, can honestly say never had a problem with them. We have two gentlemen who deliver round here on rotation and are alway spot on. It seems to depend on where you live in the country.

Never really had much of an issue with them, but it probably depends on how good/bad/indifferent the final courier is.

Now, put yourself in the couriers place & imagine how much he/she gets paid per parcel & how many they have to deliver per day to earn a living.

All the time we (collectively) want our parcels delivered for "free" or very low cost it won't improve, so, it's really down to us. Personally, I think we should have an option for deliveries ;
a) "Free" & take a chance or
b) Pay a premium & get premium service.

We, get a fair amount of deliveries & generally the more expensive the courier, the better the service. For important deliveries we inquire about the couriers used & often pay a little more for a better service.

Bottom line is not always the cheapest.

To be fair, we have had consistently reliable service for smaller parcels from EVRI where the same courier delivers day in day out. It's when something is "oversize" (she delivers in a hatchback) that problems occur.

I don't mind paying for an EVRI alternative but suppliers need to offer it. 2016 Skoda Octavia VRS Estate

Must be just the luck of the draw. As I have had nothing but good service from Hermes / Evri.

It's not so much that things go wrong - I understand that. But their support system has been rendered utterly pointless as Caesium mentioned in the original post. With a bit of tenacity you used to be able to contact someone at the local Hermes depot. But the "chat" feature now just goes around in a loop and there's no way to achieve anything.

As you say, YMMV, but when it goes wrong, it really goes wrong. 2016 Skoda Octavia VRS Estate

A £200 order with Auto-Doc has been stuck with Evri because ‘the package is too big’.

They decided this after I was told it was out for delivery. It’s only some struts for my e34 Touring so can’t be that big!

Can never get hold of a human, just a robot telling me what I already know.

Due to arrive today apparently, let’s see.

I will be asking Auto-Doc for some compensation (of the postage cost at the very least).

Never had an issue with Hermes or EVRI; mainly using them for small items, though. Thumbs Up l=Oo\________/oO=l l:OolΞΞΞΞΞΞΞloO:l

I once ordered a jack that was delivered via Hermes all I got was a plastic bag that clearly stated >10kg there was no Jack. I just contacted the supplier and they sent another but was it really Hermes fault if it wasn't packaged securely? Geoff
