So should we keep on using Diesel and Petrol and abandon EV's because today some of the components are sourced using unethical practices? What about how oil is sourced in places such as Nigeria? or Saudi Arabi with it's human rights record or the Arctic and it's effect on the environment? 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322)

It's not a good situation in Congo, I've actually worked in the oil industry there. Whilst the child labour is bad, it is not the fault of EV manufacturers or users. It could be argued that theyre better off with the mining than without it, the mum in the film said if they found Cobalt, they could eat, otherwise they would go hungry. This seems little different to the fashion houses and sweat shops around the world.
It seems to me that corruption is the biggest issue not the cobalt mining. BMW i3 Electric Car

Errr, don’t EVs produce brake dust then? And not all chargers will use Green energy because the grid isn’t green. Your set up may well be, but others don’t have that choice available to them.

Not as much as other vehicles as EV's use regenerative braking (wonder if the brake pads get glazed ?).
& of course they generate tyre dust so there is not such thing as a zero emmission EV.

Glazed pads are caused by overheating so this is even less likley to occur on an EV with regenerative braking. 'Technically' tyre and brake dust are emissions as they are released into the air but for the purposes of laws governing taxation and vehicle classification they are not included. IMO both these things should be included and there is growing evidence that tyre wear particles are a serious health issue. 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322)

Emission Analytical say
They find EV have more tyre/brake dust than conventional cars.

ICE Emmission particles are virtually irrelevant now as the filters /technology have brought them down so much.

One of the big no no are new cars. You know that lovely new car smell? Apparently very nasty….

EA advise governments and industry, and basically hate cars and emissions and particles ! Filters are in fact so good that in certain circumstances, when the ambient air is already polluted, a diesel car will tend to extract more particles from the air than it emits. Emissions Analytics worked with........etc etc
