Afternoon chaps,

I love a depreciated luxo barge me, and one of the things that for me denotes a luxury vehicle is the quality of the carpet. The carpet in my old BMW 760 was better than in most houses, whereas the carpet quality in my lowly L322 is more of a Carpet Right budget special. Its an odd thing to fixate on, but I find that 'proper' carpet is so much easier to clean and hoover.

I'm just wondering if all L322's have the same carpet, especially in Autobiography trim? I'm tempted to change mine if a more luxurious carpet exists. Encourage alternative fuels, use all the petrol!

The headlining is not very good either. Was much better on my 2003 car. I also hear the rain on the roof louder too…. Not what you asked, I know…

As to carpets, I’m pretty sure they were the same, just the mats were different.

I love the quality of the carpet in my Autobiography because it hoovers so easy especially after cleaning my wife's Jeep's crappy stuff. Perhaps there is a difference between the models.

The Autobiography has different carpet mats, but the full carpet underneath will be the same across the models, according to the brochure.

I must say I thought the quality of the carpet and it's easy cleaning was superb on both my 2002 and 2012...

I need a fix for the hard suspension first Pete 🤣 starting to spoil it for me now if I’m honest.

I’ve got plenty of options on mine, but the autobiography leather and 1200w HD music I wished I had….

I bought a rubber mat set, and swapped out the drivers carpet one, so doesn’t matter what I drag in getting in and out.

There are a couple of carpet sets on the bay of e, but not clear what trim they came from. Just says fits AB….

I’m happy with my carpet mats, can’t remember what the edges are. Don’t think they are leather.

Funny you should ask that question chrali. When i bought mine, i thought exactly the same as you. In fact, the carpet reminds me of the same carpet you used to get in an Austin Allegro. Seriously should you come across one, take a look.

I too am a bit "odd" in this respect.

Years ago I had a 911 and was amazed at the carpet. Not that it looked amazing particularly, but cleaning.

I bought it from a close friend, who had cared for it mechanically but christ, the inside was like a tip. never vacuumed. 2 inches of Ginsters pasty flakes and cigarette ash.

A quick vacuum and it was literally like new, and even had pile lines!

Never had carpet like it since.

Agree. 911 and high-end BMWs have superb quality carpet.

The L322 does not. I find it borderline embarrassing when I’m hoovering it.

And yes, the roof pings and tings with every drop of rain. Especially toward the front, ahead of the sunroof.
