Well went for a run, about 15 miles. Then tried the tests with the monitor, all seemed ok but the idle charge rate comes up as low. How does this look, could there be an issue

Guessing it's looking for 13.5v at idle, so I'd say no major problem as you're 99.9% of the way there. That's a pretty normal figure for idle charging voltage and will definitely be charging the battery 2011 Vogue SE Tdv8 FFRR |

Thanks Mike and ANSI, good to see charging rates are ok. For the money it seems quite a good bit of kit. I can check on battery without going outside too so I can see how it drops over the days it's not used which is a bonus! 2009 Range Rover Vogue 3.6TDV8, Bournville, Parchment/Navy

Most people don't worry about their batteries.. If it starts the vehicle, it's ok.

I can't say for sure since I've only owned my RR for a few months now but I had heard that the electronics in these vehicles are very sensitive to voltage being even a bit low. While most vehicles will be fine on a battery that it just starting to die I thought that I had heard that when the battery is starting to die you can get some odd issues. Replacing the battery could solve them.

Well Mr Steptoe you indeed are entitled to your theories! I can assure you I am neither worried or stressed but was after a little advice on what's normal for these cars. There are a number of posts on how battery level/condition can affect these particular cars. I fitted the monitor purely so I can see if there was any issues and to endure mine will always start. My Jag XJ can go for weeks without a problem that appears not the case with the RR. If my post in the "Technical" section causes you concern or indeed stress then accept my apologies 🤣. 2009 Range Rover Vogue 3.6TDV8, Bournville, Parchment/Navy

After my recent need to replace the alternator I am a little paranoid as to whether my 6 month old battery has been affected by the old alternator. Therefore I have ordered one of these so I can hopefully allay my fears a little, especially as it is FBH time of year.

Recently had battery issues when my wife was using the car for work. She usually sits in it and it idles for a long time. Maybe theres an idle issue that doesn't sufficiently recharge the battery in these vehicles. |
