Mine does exactly this, about 5 seconds and its like a rocking squeaking sound, its got to be a pulley or tensioner maybe even fan slowing down. Its done it 5 years i have had the car. |

Mine does this I think it is the turbo actuators or EGR valve or both going through a self check, think they also do it at start up but you can't hear it then over the engine.

Mines definitely not any of them, this is a bearing noise from fan or a tensioner. |

Mmm. Originally I was thinking it was idle wheel or tensioner but this noise is after shutting down. Do engine is stationary its like something is free spinning for about 5 secs after engine stops. I'll try and get video. |

The only other thing spinning is the fan. Everything else will stop. if it’s the fan spinning it could mean the viscous coupling has gone fubar....

Sounds like mine is the fan noise, its like as the fan slows down the noise does around 3 seconds i counted after engine stops. Would a new fan fix this? If so i might get a new fan belt aswell dont think mine has ever been replaced and now on 113,000 on clock. |

The high pitched hum and squeak squeak squeak sound is the engine management repeatedly cycling the throttle bodies to clear them of any soot deposits.. |

This sound is entirely normal. It's the EGR valves and throttle bodies doing their reset cycle (They reset each time you turn the engine off and take the key out)

The throttle bodies are on the front of the intake manifold. To give them a proper clean would involve removing it, which is a pain in the backside, as it usually also involves unplugging various sensors, removing the heatshields and unplugging some of the injectors. Cleaning may only take 30 minutes but removing and re-installing when you haven't done it before can easily take over 3 hours.
