Passenger window sticking?

I've noticed a few times when raising the passenger window it seems to stop as if its reached a limit or thinks it has hit something and reverts back to full opening again. This happens about six inches from the bottom. If I keep my finger on the opening button it will force it to close but this is usually accompanied by a rattling noise as if the window winder mechanism is struggling to work or being forced to do what it doesn't want to. Before I attempt to remove the door interior to see if I can lubricate something has anyone had the same?

I had a similar problem with the drivers door window on mine - it eventually jammed down Shocked I was lucky enough to be able to get it closed again before it rained....

It was caused by the cable of the mechanism fraying due to rust and catching in the cable outer. Unfortunately the only option is replacing the mechanism. Can't remember how much it would cost new (expensive), but they are usually available on eBay.
Here's one https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/203964035248 but collection only

Its an easy fix, the workshop manual in the wiki gives details - took me about 30 minutes.
