That's better...

Finally managed to get half a day of peace and quiet (and no rain...) to get the new motor cleaned up and looking semi respectable. A full clean and polish and she almost looks like she should.

Hopefully a Swirlx treatment on the bonnet and a full wax tomorrow and she'll be just about done!

Any suggestions for widespread stone spots on the front of the bonnet? Forgot to take close ups of it, but looks like the car was standing a bit too close to the missus when she's been rolling white emulsion - through the laquer unfortunately!

looks like emulsion spots Rolling Eyes it was the closest comparison I could make... Rolling Eyes they just make the front bonnet lip look dirty rather than damaged, hence the desire to avoid a full treat and respray!

As for the wheels, I am in full agreement, but unfortunately that's what was fitted when i bought her. There's no accounting for taste here in Aberdeen Confused ... HOWEVER, all in pristeen condition and 4 x brand new conti's on so there's no real justification to change them - unless anyone fancies a swap for some 20" Vogues / FF S/C's!!

In reality the only way your bonnet will be perfect is with a respray. A good bodyshop should be able to do a perfect match for you, I'd expect to pay £300-£500 though. It's often cheaper if you're having other bits done too.

For the bonnet I would be tempted to buy a 2nd hand one and get them to take their time with it as black is a bastard colour and will show any "orange peel" or "flat" areas.

If the chips are just on the leading edge then you could just have that bit painted, but then it may look better than the rest of the bonnet...

Don't know if a thumbs up on the wheels from an Essex boy is a good thing or not.... Wink

Only kidding mate, they are growing on me too. Its just feels a bit like wearing a tailored Saville row suit with a pair of shoes from Burtons...

From horribly bitter experience, they are a useless design if you take them off road, even mild soft roading, I went through three sets on my RRS SC. The problem is they have no protection from the Tyres, so any mud/grit/stones etc just grind away at the surfaces, through ruts etc. Discovery 4 HSE

correct - 275/40' are fitted.

295's would give a definite improvement - am terrified of curbing the 275's because of the lack of protection!

2010 Range Rover Vogue TDV8 Stornoway Grey

I think both Stormers and the RRS S/C -TDv8 wheels look good on a FFRR, but they do need the higher profile tyres. My Evoque is coming shod with Stylr6 (Evoque) design - my youngest sister just fitted a set of copy style 6 and within a week she has one cracked, two porous and one scuffed. Not worth having them even if they are cheap if they are going to go flat on you after a few days! 2018 Mini Countryman Cooper S E All4 PHEV in Melting Silver - it’s whisper quiet in EV and polluter modes

True, but that little extra width and higher profile of the 295's would bring peace of mind. Closer to stock FF 255/55/20 rolling diameter as well...

Will have to investigate the option for a swap a bit more methinks....
