[For Sale] 2003 L322 4.4v8 Vogue | |
It is with a heavy heart to do this, but I am reluctantly putting my v8 up for sale.
Its a 2003 Adriatic Blue bmw powered v8 with 93k on the clock. I have only had it a year, and bought it because I wanted to scratch a v8 itch, and in my head I thought I could persuade my better half to have it over her ageing l322 Td6. Unfortunately, whilst we both agree this v8 is in many ways loads better than her Td6, the TD6 is "her" car (bought with her own money 7 years ago as a birthday present) and it isnt black.
Its had two previous owners to me - husband and wife on the paperwork, and was supplied by HR owen in London as a standard vogue with what I think is fairly unusual option of colour coded door handles (I have the options list). It was used as regular transport between London and Cornwall, and according to the previous owner then eventually stayed in their second home in Cornwall and was serviced and looked after by Moores in Winnards Perch, Cornwall.
Whilst Moores are very helpful and do know the car, they - despite asking several times - havent printed anything on the service records other than a couple of repair bills (air suspension bits etc) and I dont have a service record book. I'm reliability informed by the previous owner that it was also serviced by two garages in London, but again I've no documentation of this.
That said, its obiously been fairly well looked after and has been bought up to a great standard by me in the last year. Items included:
Full service
A/C condenser (AC is bloody freezing now!)
replacement indicators and fog lights (they were faded/cracked and looked unloved)
Lower temp thermostat and different expansion cap (along with a new expansion bottle)
new ABS sensors
Replacement Amplifier
New Battery
Wipers
Cup holder
Pixels Fixed
Replacement key fobs (both by our man in Glasgow)
The arches are VERY clean. There is no visible rust on the drivers side and a very small amount of bubbling just starting on the passengers side lower wheel arch near the cill - but for its age its very clean. Nothing on the bootlid or above the windscreen. Its probably had paint in the past, but its been done well and I think the lack of side steps has helped keep it clean.
It has no towbar - never has had, so has hardly been stressed.
The interior is beautiful and clean - the drivers seat has a folded bit of leather and a small area of stitching that has come apart, but the bolsters are perfect, as are the armrests, which I dont reckon have been used. Integrated dog net/cargo net thing and very clean parcel shelf.
It drives lovely - no ticking on startup, and no knocks or rattles - all joints are free of play and its wonderfully smooth. I've just got it out of the garage today and drive from cornwall to Andover and back - performed perfectly and despite sitting in a mega queue near stone henge in the baking heat with the a/c on and music streaming from my phone over bluetooth to the hifi, it didnt skip a beat or overheat.
It passed an MOT in Jan with no advisories. If I were keeping it, I'd want to change the tyres, but they are all well within legal limits, but are Landsail tyres, which are quiet, smooth and problem free, but I admit to being a bit of a tyre snob and would want to put something more premium on it.
it also needs the bonnet badge replacing as the "R" at the end is missing (I have a new set to come with it). and the handle that you lift the boot floor up with needs replacing as it snapped. It also has a chip/small scrape over the rear panel, but could be fixed by a smart repair (its not that bad).
I've probably priced it a bit high, but open to sensible offers - I'm in no hurry to sell. TD6 available to drive if you want to do back to back testing for comparison....I know which one I'd prefer to drive though as the V8 is gorgeous. Looking for around £4,200 ono.
