Good morning everyone a freind brought his 56plate RR Vogue SE for me to look at because it's not running correctly. If the car is in P or N it idles fine, as soon as D or R is selected, straight away it sounds like a bag of clanking spanners and idles really rough, stinks of diesel, some white smoke, some black smoke. Put it back in either P or N and back to calm.
When it idling fine, if I disconnect each injector it runs ruff. Now I know it could be an injector, but some one has suggested that it could be an egr valve..

If it turns out to be an injector do they need to be coded when replaced? If we blank the egr valves will they need to be coded out to avoid the EML light coming on?
