Is this plastic “fragile”?

I’ve got some build up of gunk (probably hand cream) and the lettering is loosing its whiteness. I remember when I cleaned the l322 the rubber came off is it the same. Also the stitching is off white can it be restored - photo shows the good, the bad and the ugly I have kept to myself.
