And another thing about the launch that's shambolic...

Apols if everyone else knows this (I'm late to the party, granted), but...on the UK website (haven't checked others), the 23 inch wheel style shown in the headline images isn't actually available to select/display on the configurator. It's lower down in the Accessories section and thus doesn't show on the configurator images. It is also much more expensive as it's a whole extra wheel/tyre combo purchase via the dealer.

Any resemblance etc, etc...

I think the wheel you're talking about is standard on the "First Edition" model, but yes you are right, once again it's at a significant premium over the entry level models.

Yes I think aja500 is right - most likely a First Edition wheel but fully hear you on the frustration Flugplatz.

I think the problem is twofold:

1. As you describe - that the wheels in most of the launch photos are only available at a significant premium, if at all.

2. If you want a PHEV then you can't have any 23 inch wheels (see separate thread on the 'why').

In combination it makes it very hard to spec a car to one's satisfaction. I have ordered a PHEV and if I could spec 23 inch wheels would have put this to bed long ago - as it is I am scratching around for photos of cars with smaller wheels in the hope of finding a combination I like. Which has yet to happen!

Thanks, both - as I mentioned on another of my replies this afternoon, Steve Cropley's fairly sharp dig at JLR this week reveals what those closer to this are thinking.

Yes I saw that in Autocar and thought as you did - almost unprecedented and spoke volumes.

I may drop Steve a line (he publishes his email address and I subscribe to the magazine so why not) to let him know what it is like from a customer’s standpoint. I have had excellent service from my dealer - it is the press ‘service’, usually well fuelled by the manufacturer that is the problem. Bizarre that the first ‘first drive’ video was from a UK Land Rover dealer. Fair play to them but come on! I still remember Harry Metcalfe’s first drive review of the L405 which played a big role in me buying my first.
