Gear selector unit removal

As part of my repairs I need to removed the gear selector unit temporarily.

I’ve got the centre console all out tend the nuts off the unit, all that’s left is to remove the two cables that connect to it.

Here’s the issue… where it’s being worked on is no level at all and I have the neighbours house very close behind!
I have chocked as best I can but I don’t want it going into neutral when I take the cables off is there anything I have to do to make sure it stays in park?

Handbrake is off as it was one of the units I was having problems with.[/b] Current stable:

You could disconnect the cable from the side of the gearbox with one 13mm nut. That would mean that should you accidentally pull it from the top it wouldn’t bring the box out of park.

Selector cable is on the drivers side of the car.
