Roughness/vibration while in reverse at close to full lock | |
I have a td6 Range Rover. It has a problem which seems progressively getting more noticeable. When reversing out of the drive, or elsewhere, sometimes, more so when the car is cold, it has a roughness that can be felt through the car. Il admit I haven’t been able to check the steering fluid as il go have to get access to a large socket to get the lid off, it’s very tight. However, I’m not sure it’s steering related as it doesn’t do it going forward, and it doesn’t do it when the wheels are straight. I’m sort of concerned that the gearbox/transfer box and that the extra load of steering is doing something inside the drivetrain. It actually doesn’t necessarily need to be moving either, holding it on the brake in reverse with wheel approaching full lock, normally in the anti-clockwise direction causes the same roughness in what feels like the drivetrain.
