Battery change procedure check L322

As above for my 2003 TD6, have I missed anything off please? (Old notes I made from here I think - can’t seem to find the relevant section in the manual in the wiki)

* switch the vehicle off and wait 20 minutes.
* Put bonnet into access mode.
* disconnect the negative lead, then disconnect the positive lead.
* using a jump lead join the positive and negative leads together and leave them for 15 minutes
* do not connect the jump lead to any terminals that are still connected to the battery
* Undo battery clamps
* Replace battery
* remove the jump lead and reconnect the positive lead to the battery terminal and tighten up, then reconnect the negative lead to the battery and tighten up.
* start up the engine and turn the steering full lock left, hold for 3 seconds then full lock right, hold for 3 seconds, then full lock left again and hold for 3 seconds.

I must be missing something. I’ve changed the battery on my car twice since l bought it some years ago and never bothered with any of that. Just changed the battery as l would any other car and never had an issue. Only the usual full lock to full lock after the new battery is installed. Thumbs Up

You only need to join the positive and negative leads together if you want to do a 'hard reset' to 'reset' the ECUs because you're having problems. But you'll need to remove any jump lead before removing the battery - you need to get the battery cables right out of the way (tie them up) to get the battery out / back in, and a jump lead will just get in the way.

You might find you need a small stool or step ladder to stand on to help you lift the rather heavy battery out and in.

If it’s the same as my 4.4 V8 Petrol, then it’s turn off, disconnect the negative terminal, wait 20 minutes, then disconnect the positive terminal. That’s due to the pyrotechnic in the positive cable.

Cheers

Changed mine twice over the 9 years I've had it. Didn't bother with any of that wait 20 min and shorting leads together palaver. Only difference was that being 7 or 8 years older, between changes, meant it was more of a struggle lifting the 020 sized battery, out and in, the second time around.
Make sure you have an old blanket or sheet to protect the bodywork when transferring the battery. Previous cars:
S-Max 2007-2013 (only diesel I've had, good car but expensive when diesely bits go wrong, so what's the point?)
Galaxy 2001-2007
Mondeo Estate 1997-2001
Sierra Estate 1993-1997
Uno Turbo 1987 -1993
Fiesta 1984 - 1987
Fiat 127 1982 - 1984
