United Kingdom 2011 Range Rover Vogue SE TDV8 Buckingham Blue

I replaced the tailgate when I had a TD6 and kept the glass, think a windscreen company charged me about £60 to remove the factory tint glass and replace with my clear one. Was a few years ago though, perhaps 7 or 8….

Thanks mjdronfield for that. Good to know that it can be done when the time comes. No problem then with replacing the wiring down the side? I suppose straight forward once the glass is out and before replacing with the original one.

Cheers

Body shop did the wiring swap. I think it’s fed down one side. I’m sure there was a specific post somewhere about swapping the tailgate.

Tailgate

Thanks again. There is something on YouTube but the chap did it his job himself changing the whole unit including the glass but presented the wiring problem he faced. I know now the score when talking to a body shop who can do as the factory build method.
Cheers

My 2008 had a bit on the tailgate but my current 2011 is immaculate - apart from a bit of bubbling and discolouration just showing around the drivers side window frame.

As others have said, these cars are getting on a bit now, the ones that were going to rust have and the others will probably be fine for a few more years

It’s not just a rangey problem, Land Rover ‘quality control’ has been poor across their range for years; just a matter of luck I suppose - my defender is still rust free but only because the previous owner and I have spent money waxoyling, repainting the cross member and so on.
