Best trolley jack for Range Rover

Looking for a low profile trolley jack with quick pump action that definitely will go under a low car but also that’s going to get the RR up to a good height (as high as possible) easily and quickly for changing wheels, fettling brakes, placing axle stands easily etc.

Recommendations welcomed - was looking at the SGS 3 TONNE LOW PROFILE HEAVY DUTY GARAGE TROLLEY JACK - that lifts to a height of 535mm but none in stock Rolling Eyes

Thanks

Thumbs Up

I’ve used the Halfords advanced 3 tonne for my last 3 range rovers. Also used on a bmw e92 335d and a Jaguar xkr. Fits under and lifts all cars really easily with a lot of control. Plus I believe it comes with a 3 year warranty. Can’t fault the jack and I think with a trade card I paid about £90 last year for it.

Couldn’t use my Halfords trade card online and so got fed up trying (it keeps happening)… then decided on a 3 tonne SGS one at £119 but it’s not in stock and so….

Don’t know if it’s the best for a RR (time will tell) but… Just ordered a Sealey 3 tonne Trolley Jack with Rocket Lift - 3040AG …. after spending too many hours pontificating 😂

Got it for £148 incl delivery via an eBay 10% special offer and it’ll be delivered on 4th March. The lowest setting for the jack is 100mm and it will raise a vehicle to a max saddle height of 533mm so it should be good for raising the RR… and hopefully a lot quicker and easier than the pfaffing around I’ve been used to with my current pieces of kit… Fingers crossed it’s good 🤞

I’ll update when it’s been used….

Jack arrived today. It’s a monster and very smart looking. Reminds me of something you’d expect to see in a formula 1 garage Laughing

Never expected it to be so big but it feels like top quality and I’ve no doubt it will do everything the RR and our other cars throw at it. The Rocket lift feature is brilliant and reduces the number of pumps require to get the jacking pad in position. Comes with a good round rubber jacking pad too. Very pleased with this new toy. Thumbs Up

They look good. Apparently the 3 ton SGS ones are due in 3-6 weeks though the 2.5t is in stock and has almost the same height. Im still hesitating so just ordered the 2x6 ton stands for now - due Monday Smile 2015 Range Rover L405 SDV8 AB Corris grey

I use the SGS 3T Low profile jack on my disco 3 and range rover and it works perfectly. I use a solid block of Oka or something similar to protect the rubber pad on the jack and even out the pressure of the jacking points. Had it about a year and I am constantly swapping wheels so gets a really good workout and has been totally fine

A good tip for when you buy a new trolley jack.

1 Check to see if an overhaul kit ( including all hydraulic seals ) is available for the jack you wish to buy.
2 Buy a kit and keep it wrapped in thick black plastic away from extremes of temperature.

Otherwise you can end up with a failed jack that is only a few years old, and find that spares are no longer 'available' Bloody annoying when that happened to me. Censored

Good tip Merchy Thumbs Up

It’s some piece of kit. The most susbstantial Jack I’ve ever used or am likely to use Shocked

Front near side wheel is 6” of the ground in this image and there’s plenty more height left for the Jack to take the car to. Frightened to take it any higher Laughing

It is Thumbs Up

And this home made wooden L405 jacking pad that safely sits on top of the Sealey round rubber jacking pad is just the job:
