It Was only a matter of time.. ENGINE SYSTEM FAULT

I am now 3 months into my TDV8 love affair and so far it's been without surprises. Today out on the open road, albeit a 41c day, I get my first Engine System Fault message and although no immediate decrease in speed, the throttle peddle no longer wants to play. No dramas, armed with a wealth of knowledge gained from this forum, I pull over, switch off, restart and all is back to normal apart from the cruise control is not functioning at all? Back home I instinctively go straight to the top turbo hoses for inspection and lo and behold the RH one is split. Thanks for all the past input on this subject, I could not have sorted this so quickly without you. I have had the same roll of self-amalgamating tape in my car emergency kit for over 20 years and it's still good. I have ordered a new hose and some new emergency tape.

Living in such a remote corner of the world sometimes means waiting for parts to be delivered, our Covid isolation rules makes delivery times even longer. My replacement hose is still on route from Turkey of all places. I am pleased to report my repair is holding strong however I had another episode as before, this time cruising on the freeway, bong of doom, engine fault message and loss of power. Stopped, restarted and all good. Back home I thought my repair must have failed but on inspection, I now have 2 splits in the LH side hose. Another repair was done and a new LH hose was ordered from eBay UK that will be sent from China.

I always carry a couple of rolls of Rescue Tape. Having lived in Aus I decided I could not carry every spare hose for my car so this made a good alternative.

If I could find them in Oz I would have got them. The Hoses are original and have 130000 miles on them so the new rubber ones, when they arrive will hopefully outlast me. I might see if I can fine some silicone straight and 90 degree bends for the plenum. 2007 TDV8 VSE
