Top marks - EBC Brake Pad Review - Greenstuff 6000 4x4

Hi,

Has anyone used these brake pads on either an L322 or L405?

I think they are compatible with the TRW calipers (our L405 has TRW calipers all round) and just wondered if anyone can please comment on them (would be fitting them at the same time as brand new genuine LR discs).

One review from the EBC website says (do you think someone from EBC wrote it? Wink
'…I love the EBC Brakes! Installation was straight forward and easy. All EBC Brakes components fits perfectly. The directions for the “break-in” process was easy to follow. I didn’t have any brake noise (squeaks) during or after the break-in period, though I was expecting some noise as it’s a normal occurance for high performance brakes. Stopping power is incredibly strong and fade-free, especially for my heavily modified vehicle which is extremely heavy. The EBC Brakes pads also don’t produce much brake dust if any at all. Overall I’m very pleased with the EBC Brakes and would highly recommend any of their EBC Brakes products.'

Currently running Greenstuff in my Freelander. No complaints so far, no squeal when bedding in, pedal feel vastly improved, never suffered fade yet...

Ran Redstuff in my D3 with Brembo brakes. Pedal was on par with standard stuff when cold, and improved hugely once hot.
Dust was non existent, rear wheels suffered more brake dust than the fronts
Also bought them for the 6 pots, when they need replacing Thumbs Up

The only time I have suffered squeal with Reds, was a Fabia vRS. Ran gently for the recommended 1k miles, still squeaking. Did a heavy stop from 90 down to almost zero, silent after that Laughing

Just spoke with my EBC supllier and he was raving about the yellow stuff pads , he claims while they are race track orientated they give great life and very good initial bite from cold with no fade. This lad normally knows what he is talking about so i will give them ago with matching discs , next time i need to change. 2015 4.4 AB

Now in possession of EBC Greenstuff Pads and warning sensors thanks to site sponsor Advanced Factors who were very helpful when checking compatibility with our car; and the order arrived within 48 hours despite my only having opted fot the standard 3-5 working day delivery tariff. Great service from AF Thumbs Up

Further updates to follow when the pads and new discs are fitted all round... Thumbs Up

Hi Mikey, apparently the new formula of Yellowstuff isnt dusty but lets see how i get on . They can't be worse than standard anyway, i cant keep my alloys clean with standard pads. Its like i have matt shadow wheels on mine 30 seconds after i clean them Thumbs Up 2015 4.4 AB

New discs and pads fitted all round today (apparently the existing discs would have served another set of pads but the preference was to change everything at once):

Genuine LR discs supplied by site sponsor Duckworth LR;

Front Greenstuff heavy duty 4x4 pads supplied by site sponsor Advanced Factors;

All round sensor wires supplied by Advanced Factors; and

Rear Greenstuff heavy duty 4x4 pads sourced on eBay (AF sell front, not rear, Greenstuff pads).

Mechanic advised that because the Greenstuff pads are a harder compound, they are likely to produce less brake dust but might result in more brake squeal until warmed up (not so far) and they might wear out the discs a wee bit sooner.

First impressions are that the Greenstuff pads are very good Thumbs Up

14 months on and these Greenstuff pads are going strong having been excellent in all weather/ ‘combined’ on road driving (no brake squeal either, minimal brake dust, wheels easy to clean and no degradation/ signs of them being harsh on the genuine LR brake discs). Highly recommended 👍🏻
