L322 going from 22" to 20's?

Just recently bought this with these 22" on it.

The NSF tyre was advisory on the last MOT that it is wearing on the outside edge. Which it is. I've also got a slight pull to the left which may have encouraged the wear over time from something or another that I'll address once I've changed size.

I'm looking to get away from this size and move to maybe 20's? I would prefer it sat on a higher profile and a bit less crashy with our pot holed ridden roads. Couple of questions ....

1. I've got Brembo brakes on the front so would need something to clear the calipers.

2. How do these cars behave with an all terrain tyre and would it create any tyre drag or more noise? Not looking to go off road with just the occasional camp site later in the year.

Good idea to get rid of the 22s, awful things
I've just fitted a set of General Grabber AT3 in 255 55 20 and very happy. Much better ride over pot holes and no difference in road noise. A few threads on there about them or drop me a PM and I'll send some piccies via WhatsApp. Or come and see them in the flesh...I'm in Petersfield.
I see you're in Hampshire....I use Glenrands in Bordon for all my RR work and can highly recommend them. They also fitted my tyres and have a Hunter 4 wheel laser alignment machine which is imperative to use to save tyre wear. They also know what Tight Tolerance Mode is to lock the suspension when doing the alignment. They also supply tyres at a good price too.
Ross (boss man) may also have some spare 20" wheels for you too. I got mine off eBay.

2012 Range Rover Autobiography TDV8 Bournville

I'll be fitting GG AT3 in 255/60R19 on D4 rims in a week or 2 when my son has finished borrowing them. The rims fit over the 6-pot Brembos. I got them to replace 275/55R20 which I find are too big in several respects.

Thanks for the offer DrRob. I'm in north Hants just outside of B'stoke so maybe a little bit out the way but always handy to know where other LR specialists are as at some stage I'm sure I'll be visiting them Good to know they behave well on the road and I will be getting a 4 wheel alignment done once the news one are on.

I'm not fan of 22" so will see what turns up. They have plenty of meat left on them so it gives me a bit of time.

I had 18s on my TD6 when I got it. It was the only wheel fitted by the factory. I put 19s on it and the steering was a bit sharper and ride less compliant, but I thought a good compromise visually.

Got 20s on my TDV8 and I have to slow right down to ease it up a kerb and still feel im being mechanically sympathetic. Never had to worry before.

I like the look of 22s but the practicality would be a no for me.

Some 19s will go over the Brembo brakes but it seems 20s were pretty much the norm at the end of the L322s life.

My Disco 2 had 18s on, and that was the biggest factory option 🤣

No probs. They have loan cars (Freelander2) so handy for dropping off etc.
No flash showrooms etc but a warm welcome!

I removed mine's 255/50R20 very smartly after I purchased the vehicle as I really didn't like the thumping caused by the short sidewalls, temporarily fitting the wheels from my unsold D4 what were fitted with 255/55R19. I then fitted 275/55R20 which improved the ride more which I've been running for more than 6 years. I haven't yet run the 255/60R19 which have the same sidewall height as the 275/55R20 but expect the ride to be softer due to the narrower 255 tyre. My son likes them on his D4 but I want them back! The current Pirelli AT+ 275/55R20 and the GG AT3 255/60R19 have the same LI 113 load rating so should have stiffer / stronger sidewalls than the GG AT3 255/55R20 LI 110, an important aspect for me.

+1 for 255/55/20 - I am also running GG AT3s - averaging 15k miles a year over everything and no issues.

i have a set of 22s and have been eyeing up other sets , ive got 20s with the same tyres as the chaps above , i just think it looks right on them

I'm booked in for a little bit of work next week and once that's done I'll do a proper post somewhere with "what's next on my list to do" As there a few bits to get done but no immediate rush

Everyone likes a happy ending

I was offered a good deal on a set of 19's that had 2 new General tyres and bought another two new ones yesterday along with setting up the alignment which has resulted in this:-

Drives much better than the original 22's it came with. Anyone know how to tell if my 22's are original or copies?

I've got a few things I need to sort out like, the rear camera isn't working, sat nav needs a new aerial as it's showing that I'm out at sea somewhere, parking sensors aren't working as well as the sunroof which had to be closed from tilt by my local RR place and the steering column will only go in and out and not tilt. Just a few things but overall I'm well happy with it and so glad I bought a 4.2SC and not the original derv I was going to get.

The leather seats came up a treat with some leather cleaner although the interior still smells a bit like a foot but I'll soon have that sorted out.

The biggest wheels Land Rover fitted to the L322 were 20’s, so the 22’s will def not be LR….

Not sure on the Overfinch stuff. I imagine there will be a stamp somewhere. Folks more knowledgeable than me will be along soon……
