I'd stick with a non dpf motor for that sort of journey plans Gone to a good home: 2011 4.4 TDV8 Vogue SE Buckingham Blue with Ivory and clear glass = "Rory"

I have a 2015 SDV8. When I first bought it I worked 20 miles away with daily Mway trips so never gave the DPF a thought. I have since changed jobs and now work only six miles from home, all on 30 MPH roads! I suddenly thought I may have an issue, but have been commuting this now for 18 months along with any other travel required and no DPF issues so far, (hope I’ve not tempted fate). I do enjoy a drive out in the country at weekends so it does get quite a few good runs. If for any reason I cant I make sure it gets a decent journey at least once a fortnight. I’m sure others will have different experience but that’s mine, hope it helps.

Get an iid, monitor soot level. My mileage dropped like a stone due to covid and I no longer do the mileage. Iid has been a godsend, you don’t have to travel far for a dpf burn, worth reading the mega thread on here which has been an enormous help tbh. I work exactly 1 mile from the house , lazy bastid I know, we drive the long way to work, with a few higher speed runs to clear it. Been caught out loads , without pat at gap’s help and the aforementioned thread , I’d have spunked loads at the dealer. |

TBH no most of the time I just use a decent brand, Esso or Shell, I do treat it now and then to premium, but most of the time use standard diesel. |

My SDV8 gets used very little and I never see DPF issues UNLESS it's just shunted around here too much and then it starts to stink (from the exhaust) then I know it's time to have a runout... |

During covid ours has lost some of the longer runs, no DPF warnings etc but our service intervals has been roughly twice a year due to oil dilution even though the short runs are down dual carriageway. It’s back to some nice motorway runs now, but it wasn’t a big issue to be honest. Sold - Bell a 2015 MY16 Loire Blue Autobiography 4.4 SDV8

I was in this exact situation 2 to 3 miles per day for week after week, a monthly 500 mile trip. Only once did I get the orange warning, I took a longer route home and after 12 miles of normal driving on A roads the warning went off. It was never an issue for me. BMW i3 Electric Car

The driver handbook says automatic regeneration takes place between 190 and 560 miles so I guess I’ll be nearer 190 miles!😧

Is your 10 miles a day, a 2 journey deal, ie 5 each way? and a break in between?

My daily 10 miles are made up roughly of journeys of 1 to 2 miles in the morning and the same in the evening, so the engine will never get to temperature. I have another petrol car which I’ll use to help.
