A few folk in the E39 world have used http://www.clusterrepairsuk.co.uk to repair the fault you've created (no affiliation and I've never personally used them)

Have now managed to fix the LCD-strip completly, and separet the needle from the old pin. have ordered new steppermotor, so will give it a try and update when I am further in this idiotic quest |
