Did a bit of digging on the Supercharged this evening…

I made my own smoke tester which allowed me to find a vacuum leak…

It’s on the elbow between the throttle body and the supercharged and the hose runs from the throttle body to the brake booster.

You can just see the smoke escaping in that after my smoke pellet had run out.

I trimmed the end of the pipe and tried it again but still saw smoke so I removed the collet and fished the oring out and found it to be square and rock solid so I’m going to try and figure out what size it is as none of the generic ones I had are the right size unfortunately.

Are you talking about the bit where you push the brakes booster in and it self grips? they always seem to leak there I ended up putting a blob of silicone around it.

Is the little hose going to the fuel pressure sensor on properly s/c side that's a weakness there.

What are your fuel trims that's the easiest way to work out if its a leak - if it is id have expected lean faults like I got. Current stable:
2006 BMW M6
2007 4.2 V8 S/C FF
Gone:
2002 4.4 V8 FF

Yea, that's the one. Mine was leaking a lot there. Got a new seal on it's way for it so will replace that and see how we go.

The rubber hose going to the fuel pressure sensor was a crap fit too so I trimmed the end off it and remade it.

Not sure what the fuel trims are as I'm only looking for leaks using smoke just now. Not getting any lean faults, just misfires.

Everything is on hold whilst I wait for parts just now to replace the front diff. Once that's done and I can get it back together I'll sort the engine stuff out again.

The o-ring isn’t available from Land Rover separately but does come as part of this kit.

Haven’t fitted it yet but when comparing it to the old o-ring it looks to be spot on.

You’re not the only one, Sandy Smile

Just ordered all 4 control arms, both ball joints and 2 track rod ends this evening. I’m going to refresh the entire front end whilst I’ve got it stripped.

Seems daft to go this far and not do everything whilst I’m in there.

When I did mine I did both inner and outer rods when I did mine cant remember the mileage but they were in good condition but I changed them anyway - I always replace stuff if it is stripped down

Had the RR running for the first time in a couple of months tonight.

One thing I noticed tonight was the misfire is still present but nowhere near as bad as before since replacing the leaking o-ring on the throttle body.

However, when I disconnected the hose from the PCV valve and stuck my thumb over the pipe that goes into the air intake the misfire clears almost instantly and it runs much much better.

The PCV pipe sucks on my thumb when it’s over the opening so there’s no vacuum leaks between the throttle body and where the hose goes onto the PCV valve. The PCV valve was replaced last year with a genuine LR one and when the car is running you can hear air whooshing through the pipe. This stops when you remove the pipe and put your thumb over it.

Need to do a bit of research on this bit now to see what’s going on.
