@Stan,
Sorry hadn't realized you'd beat me to the story. Would be interesting to know what sort of 'Range Rover' it was that spontaneously combusted though. It's one of my 'bugbears' that there are four different models of 'Range Rover' (according to JLR), the FFRR...the RRS...the BabyRR...and the (as Jeremy Clarkson would call it) 'Veloouurr', but they are totally different machines! It's the one thing that gets my goat about JLR now, they've taken a unique brand name (Range Rover) and 'bastardised' it in the name of marketing.
Mind you, with all the Chinese components in these cars nowadays, we might as well stant calling them 'Wind Rangers'! Rolling with laughter

Don’t set me off… Land Rover is the make, Range Rover is the model and Vogue etc is the trim level….

But no… folk still refer to it as a Vogue…

A Range Rover Sport isn’t a Range Rover, it’s a Range Rover Sport….3 words… always together… as 3.

But we all know this… I’m not elitist, I don’t dislike them, look good in the right colour… just that you can’t mix them up.

Yes, JLR have not helped by trying to jump on the branding…

Where is the Range Rover saloon anyway… the Road Rover or whatever it was supposed to be?

Sorry Stan, gone off topic and had a rant… not normally me 🤣

Don't think that's the case here...it's the media hyping up something to make 'NEWS HEADLINES', until an investigation has been conducted and the facts uncovered, it's all a case of unwarranted speculation. AND of course, it makes for a good juicy news story!!
I love the driver's (I'm not sexist so I won't mention it was a person of the opposite gender to mine, LOL!) statement that the message on the dash read...'OK TO DRIVE BUT WITH CAUTION'.
JLR must be pandering to the politically correct brigade when even the dash messages have to be so 'Circumspect'.
I'm just waiting for my dashboard to light up with...
'ARE YOU WEALTHY ENOUGH TO OWN OR DRIVE ONE OF OUR PRESTIGE...(IF NOTORIOUSLY UNRELIABLE AND PRONE TO SPONTANEOUSLY COMBUST) PRODUCTS? IF NOT, PULL OVER, HAND THE KEYS TO A RESPECTABLE PERSON, EXIT THIS VEHICLE IMMEDIATELY AND ORDER YOURSELF AN UBER!' Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter

I'm glad that nobody was hurt in this incident but I do wonder what the woman expected JLR to do, especially without the cause of the fire being known.

Like everyone else who drives a car, her insurance will cover her for fire so she will have made a claim with them already, and her household insurers too.

An unfortunate circumstance but seemingly accidental. I do become frustrated these days at the "it's not my fault so therefore someone else is to blame" culture that now seems to pervade everything in life. 2021 D350 Fifty Edition - Carpathian Grey

Looking at the remains of the car l doubt a definitive cause of the fire will ever be determined. Interestingly a diesel car would never have gone on fire like that.

The car caught fire to the house, the brigade probably chucked that outside when gaining entry to extinguish the fire inside the property. Christian.

@Rob99 +1
I despair at the media hyping up such stories
"I could have been killed" - yes if you'd sat there for 25 mins while it burned
"my son told me to get out" - I'd have sussed that one myself
"Land Rover dealer wont accept responsibilty" Why would they? Thud
