I can’t believe an insurance payout is based on the sale price to a dealer. The whole idea of insurance is to replace like with like. 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322)

This is what my Churchill policy says about market value…………..
The cost of replacing your car with another of the same make and model, and of a similar age and condition at the time of the accident or loss
I’d expect other Direct Line Group insurers policies to have similar wording.

Similarly, SWMBO’s Lloyds Bank insurance says market value is:
The cost of replacing the car with another of the same make, specification, model, age, mileage and condition as the car immediately before the loss or damage happened. 2021 D350 Fifty Edition - Carpathian Grey

Follow the process for a quick resolution. Look up the complaint process. Advise you want to make a complaint. Make the complaint and copy the CEO. Allow the appropriate time to lapse. Still not happy ? Send to ombudsman and seed solicitors letter.

Likely to be resolved within approx 2 weeks.

Hi Folks ,

an update with my battle with Esure which as you may recall was centred around Esure using ridiculous valuations when paying out after a Rangerover 2018 keyless theft .

After complaining to Esure , then to the executive and then finally directly to the CEO ,each time my complaint was turned down .( A £15k price difference to what I considered a fair price and to what Esure paid out ) .

I went to the ombudsman and after almost 3 months of waiting the ombudsman found in my favour and ordered Esure to pay up .

I am happy to say I received a cheque ( including interest ) from Esure this morning .

Note to self ....dont use Esure ever again ...even though they may be a few pounds cheaper on a comparison site !

Thankyou to all those on the forum who encouraged me to keep fighting .

Nice one Thumbs Up

I’d guess most insurers will work on the basis most people won’t challenge the initial payout value and certainly won’t push as far as you have - good for you.
