Replace the cable! I previously snapped mine in the same way.
Even though the manual says that you have to more or less remove the whole of the rear of the vehicle, if you are determined enough you don't have to.
It is a pig of a job and "painful" but I managed to replace mine in situ by working at finger tip at full reach to disconnect and then reconnect the cable in the EPB unit. (My FF was on a 2 post lift).
Whilst at it I replaced all shoes, pins, washers, springs etc, as touch wood this is a once only job.
You will need to then follow the EPB setup procedure and someway down the line readjust the shoes as they settle in.
