I can’t offer much other than the calliper isn’t part of the handbrake- they have handbrake shoes inside the rear disc so might be worth looking in there 2009 (2010 MY) 5.0 Supercharged Autobiography

Could one of the brake shoe holding pins be broken or displaced leaving the shoe too close to the drum? Jack the rear end up and apply the handbrake on and off to see if it's releasing properly. Any grinding noises? Rotten back plates?

You can put the handbrake into service mode and then use it to correctly bed the shoes, this might alleviate any crud that's built up in there.

Got the car back today from MJ Fews, turns out it had cheap discs and pads fitted by the previous owner. Discs were seriously warped and a bit of crud on the shoes. They fitted new Brembo discs and pads, cleaned all the calipers and now is well and brakes so much better. The fronts are slightly warped too but I will get them done another time. Shout out to MJ Fews, what an excellent indy to deal with, I think they will be my chosen indy as they are close to my office and I can leave the car with them while I'm abroad working, fantastic service. Got them to do an oil and filter change as well while they was at it. |
