Hey guys, from a rather frustrated me.

Seems limited enough offerings off coolant where I am living right now.

I can't seem to find something that matches the RAVE spec.

What do I need. How would you describe it to me? Is it colour based or something else also?

OAT . Orangey looking colour. Previous cars:
S-Max 2007-2013 (only diesel I've had, good car but expensive when diesely bits go wrong, so what's the point?)

I use Millers Alpine Extend - Red in mine.

It's an OAT antifreeze that I buy in 25 litre tubs due to having several cars that need it.

I was originally going with the Halfords stuff, but the TripleQX was in my town... I'll return that and have the Halfords.

That's the Workshop Manual not the Handbook and still does not give a change schedule.

yes and it states this in my hand book and also in the workshop man i can not see in the question wear conar is asking about when to replace . just asking what coolant are you putting in your 4.2 sc and in a round about way i have stated that i use this type of anti freeze in my 4.2 sc

Ok... so regarding the coolant.

I'm going to go with that TripleQX Orange stuff. While it doesn't say OAT on the bottle, it appears that "ethylene glycol" is an organic compound.

This TripleQX stuff says it can be used where DexCool is recommended.. and I see threads online about DexCool being used for our 4.2SC AJV8s.

That said, i'm gonna flush current stuff first. Here is my plan to flush and as I have never done this before, can you please advise if anything else is needed.

1. Drain system
2. Fill with water
3. Run engine for a while (is 5 minutes enough?) with hot air blowers fully open to allow complete circulation.
4. Drain engine and check colour.
5. If draining liquid is clear water proceed. If there is still a tinge of previous coolant, revert back to step 2.
6. Add new antifreeze concentrate to system and then topup with water.
Note: I would choose to add antifreeze concentrate on it's own so I know it all goes into system, as there would be an unknown quantity of water in the block as draining might not release it all.
7. Run engine for a while, and proceed with the bleeding techniques. Ideally have the two front wheels on blocks of would to help out.

I didn't flush my system but that's the way I would have done it including putting neat coolant in.

My advice would be to set aside plenty of time as it can take a while to persuade all air out of the system. Also I would recommend that you bleed the supercharger auxiliary pump before turning on the ignition. The pump starts on ignition on and ideally you dont want it to run dry.

I gave up draining the system from the drain cock and instead removed the bottom nearside hose from the radiator far quicker and I got a lot more coolant out.
