Advise regarding L322 2004 mod 3.0TD6, temperature…

Hi:-)

I’ve got problems with my engine.
I’ve changed the thermostat 3 times the last year, with the same result/problems before and after the change.

The engine gets normal warm when going up hill or when I let the engine work. It also reach the normal temp when idling when it stands still.

But IF I drive downhill og just coasting the temp drops and can Go as far as almost down to the blue(cold) area.

The symptoms Are the same summer as winter…

I’ve done a egr removal for about 5-6 years ago, but the egr cooler is still there.

I’ve also tryed to removal of the fan, but the symptoms Are still the same.

Hope you have some advise for me?

Best regards

Svennis

It indeed has all the symptoms of a failed thermostat but as you have changed it there would appear to be another route for the coolant to the rad that is bypassing the thermostat. One way to investigate would be to use a infrared thermometer ( Amazon does them for <20Euros) and trace coolant temperatures in the various hoses. 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322)
