Steering wheel controls

Hi all,

Just had a new (to me) issue tonight.

2011 MY with TFT dash. Big bright warning lit up saying gearbox paddles not working. Press OK to clear - of course the ok button isn't working either - the only things working on the wheel are the heat and the horn. Nothing else and buttons are not illuminating.

Could it be the dreaded clockspring issue? Or low battery perhaps where I'm not using it much these days and the battery, although starting the car perfectly, is a few years old?

Ideas gratefully received

Just thought I'd add a picture of the dashboard. To see if it jogs any trains of thoughts.

It should have been the first thing I tried - instead of instantly assuming clockspring and breaking my heart over the cost of them. Battery off for 5 mins, shorted the wires to discharge everything, and lo and behold, it's all working again!

Many thanks "Cam-Tech-Craig" for reminding me to check the basics first!
