I have been hearing a rattling that sounded as though it came from the passenger mirror. However, when being driven in the passenger seat (a very rare occurance), the noise appeared to be coming from the base of the windscreen. The next time I cleaned the car, I tried the black finishing strips on either side of the windscreen. Both are simple to lift off requiring no force. Looking at the clip fittings, it would appear that they should be much more solid. That said, they remain in place at motorway speeds and I have not tried to compare with other Rangies. The driver's side one is as easy to lift as the passenger's side but only noise is from passenger's side.

The A post trim pieces are stuck to the windscreen with an adhesive strip. What can happen is that if you've had a replacement screen they are supposed to replace the whole trim piece. If they don't then the adhesive rarely sticks properly to the new screen.

Thanks. Sounds like a trip to the dealer. |

I think the silicon (actually sealant) fix that Dan is referring to applies to the bottom seal - the A-Post trim is not stuck, and has never been recommended to be stuck by LR.

I had that issue with my passenger side 'A' pillar strip, I could hear a buffetting noise when driving at speed and it was the strip lifting, got the dealer to fix it down again with new clips etc.. For info, I think I know a possible reason why it gets loose - all other 4x4s I've owned have a grab handle on the inside of the 'A' pillar, the RR does not, so some people (tends to be not so tall ones) getting in when the suspension is at normal ride height, need to hold something in front of them and its the only obvious place to get hold of, hence, weakens the fixings. The FFRR is a rare beast with all these daft plastic trims.
