'Bens Garage' on YouTube has recently put out a video about replacing the battery in his TdV8 again, he had some recommendations, only one I can remember is using an AGM battery even without having stop-start. Might be worth checking vid as I wasn't concentrating on it at the time. 2010 Range Rover Autobiography TDV8 Santorini Black

I wouldn't put an AGM battery on an earlier car as the alternator and charging system needs to be a 'smart' version which is only found in the >MY10 cars. 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322)

Put one on my 2007, no issues whatsoever and the best thing to do imo as it's been perfect for over 5 years now, was going through a type 020 every 2 years previously Cool

+1 for fitting an AGM, I put a second hand AGM on my 07 TDV8 when I bought a new battery for my 2011 TDV8. It cured the problem of the car not starting if it was left for more than 3 days.

An AGM battery with Lead Acid charging system will only charge to around 85%. AGM batteries need a higher voltage to fully charge.

Yer pays yer money, yer makes your choice!

A like for like capacity AGM battery will really be a downgrade step from a lead acid in terms of capacity, i.e. if it was a 100ah Lead Acid battery you would end up with 85ah capacity with AGM 100 ah battery. It would have more CCA in all probability so you may see better cold starting with an AGM, just not be able to run radion / lights / FBH for as long. BMW i3 Electric Car

Correct, you can BUT you will have lower capacity if the charging system is configured for lead acid. It all depends whether you need more CCA or longevity which way to go, AGM offers NO advantage really compared to Lead Acid if the car is configured for lead acid. BMW i3 Electric Car

On My 2003 TD6 I had two 100ah AGMs, one main and a second in the rear. Both batteries charged fine with the car alternater. The same Aux battery was also in my P38a and must be well over 10 years old, I removed it when I sold the TD6 and its sitting in my garage as a spare. It still sits at 12.8v and tests at 1005cca. The brand is Oddessy Extreme, quite expensive but for me well worth it.
