there's the main battery under the spare in the boot, and 'possibly' a second aux battery in the off side rear cubby....

I suppose the more pertinent question should be, what voltage is required to keep the onboard systems "happy" ? |

My 2014 L405. 58,000 mls has two batteries, one under spare in boot and other in rear offside panel in boot. Ensure to get someone who is competent in checking your battery condition as simply connecting the main battery to a meter will not do. My two batteries are being replaced this Friday at Landranger Deeside and they are the originals. Good luck! |

12+v with the engine off rising to 14-14.5v with the engine running... A good test is to run the engine and put all the electrical drains on and see if the alternator keeps 14+v |

Spot on Cam-Tech-Craig, although I would add, an alternator function ought to be checked. |

Thats got me confused, a quick peak behind the panel tells me I've got a full sized battery for my Aux, but I don't have stop/start. |

the early L405's had an aux battery as standard according to the WM and then later the stop/start came in using the aux battery or a capacitor.... ... - .- -.

When I bought mt L322 it had an "unbranded" battery already fitted & a year into ownership it failed overnight. It was replaced with a like for like at F1 Autocentres & was OK except that with CV19 the car was used less & I had to charge it up every few days, also seemed to suffer from the "usuual" voltage sensitive issues. Not suspecting the battery the car went in to a so called specialist (not the one I use thesedays) who could not find anything specific but recommended fitting a Varta "because these cheap batteries alway give issues". The car did seem better for a while but the Varta battery failed, the F1 battery was refitted & it's been OK since. I did receive a refund on the Varta. TBH, I'm not impressed with Varta. |
