My car is a 2019 (MY2019) P400e hybrid petrol, with the 300hp petrol engine.

First issue was a " G+/" symbol indicating no reception on the centre console SIM. That was on/of after starting.

Next : thumbdrive in USB didn't work, wasn't visible as a source, also was a soft issue.

Until one day I had no SIM, no BT, no USB and no charging of my phone all at once... Both thumbdrive and

my phone were not seen as a source anymore in the system.

So I went to the dealer and they will replace the USB unit. Be aware if you have any of these issues, the unit is costly ! I-pace First Edition Santorini & 2nd car Mazda MX-30 Advantage red/black

Incredible, today everything worked again.. Some days ago the USB-thumb played music and at a hunch I checked the sound sources : phone was back too.

Now BT works, phone charges again and latest : the SIM card got connected again, and yes, on monday its due for replacement of the modules.

Although they said they didn't really knew if they should change one t2 or 3, as they are interconnectd..  I-pace First Edition Santorini & 2nd car Mazda MX-30 Advantage red/black

So the USB/SIM unit died again, and was replaced 12th/ feb.

Since then it worked, until last week in Spain I started the engine after filling up : no 4G, no traffic info !

Yes ; thumb drive with music didn't work, phone didn't charge and BT between phone and car were dead..

Driving was challenging with torrential rain around Barcelona, luckily little traffic on a saterday.

I discovered the DAB+ didn't work too, only FM. I didn't test the DAB+ before, so I can't tell it has also been

dead every time before. After the next refill : it all worked again.

Almost a week later, it all still works. But factory guarantee ends the 18th of march. Then I have about 2½ yrs approved.

But what if approved doesn't cover replacing the USB/SIM module ? What if the death of the module is a symptom

of a failure elsewhere in the In Control ?

Anyone else had an experience like this ? Are these modules all junk and is it linked to that supplier ?

I'm thinking of rejecting the car, which I did by letter to the dealer.

I can't take the risk of perpetual replacement of this module, or even sections/whole In Control..

Anyone has experience with this ?

Must say, you are a helpful bunch..

So after the episode near Barcelona, it happened several times more, but completely stopped for about 3 weeks while I stayed in the Algarve.

More amazing ; I was charging the car every day, driving it every day, and it didn't start the engine once..
Back home it starts about every 4th/5th time I push the start button..

Well, I'm back home again since almost 3 weeks. On the way back the cutitng out of 4G/USB/power with the USB central unit appeared several times, sometimes 5x one day.
Its like it senses critical moments, like Lijon and Metz in rush hour.

And ofcourse last week, driving one of my daughters to Schiphol airport in the rush hour : no 4G/traffic info.
So my daughter checked on google maps where the ques were, and we managed to get to Schiphol in time.

Tomorrow the dealer picks up the car. They will erase all firmware and write it again in one go. The suppose OTA updates might have had a hickup that causes this all..

For me it sounds like a bad connection in a socket somewhere, or a connector not properly closed. But I'm no JLR expert.

For me this is helpful as well : it is then an uncommon issue, probably not the module then.

Update.. .. front windshield replaced (huge crack developing from lower edge, in the centerline vertically), and also all firmware overwritten with a consistent data stream, no OTA patches. So now its 'wait & see' . Agreement with the dealer :
car will be returned at full purchase price ( was 30 mnths old when bought ), also due to the fact that market prices increased by roughly 20% since I bought it. So neither wil have a loss.

I do hope the problem is solved. Its a glorious car and I thoroughly enjoy driving with it. I-pace First Edition Santorini & 2nd car Mazda MX-30 Advantage red/black

Well, I did not need to wait too long.

I picked the car up on a saterday, next monday morning : no "4G' .

My first stop for shopping, 5 minutes driving : still no signal.
Started the car : immediate signal..

So the car will be returned. Just bought an F-Pace P400e with Pivi , new software, hopefully less complications.

Interesting fact : I read exactly the same symptoms in a review of a polestar BEV.

It could be.. ..anything. That is exactly what poses the problem for me.

I think about a bad connector somewhere, a loose wire that doesn't make perfect contact.
Also a integrated circuit, a firmware issue..

And JLR got 3 shots at solving it. I reported it within factory warranty, extensively documented
with photo's and facts about what/when/ how..

Out of factory warranty, its not covered by approved. Sofar the could only think of replacing a module
and rewriting the firmware..

I think I scored a new record..

I rejected a car before delivery ! I bought an F-Pace with a dealer, based on the visual
clues leading to certain qualities of the car, that were fully confirmed by the TOPIX document.

At home, after signing the contract, I started to have doubts.. ..and some deep digging by a friend
with direct access to TOPIX confirmed it. Jaguar had assembled a series of cars wiht 'left overs'
from their warehouses/stock. Things intended to be fitted (TOPIX) were not available and just left out.

Confronted with five missing features the dealer agreed to cancel the deal. I bought it before he advertised it,

but now its at least specced properly in the add.

Conclusion : there is no replacement available on the market for my car.. .. so I stick with it.. I-pace First Edition Santorini & 2nd car Mazda MX-30 Advantage red/black

Back to the topic..

It didn't happen again ! We made a fortnight trip through the Alps and it all worked almost flawless.
Once 4G disappeared, but then my phone also had no signal.

Once it seemed the problem was back. Bu with switching the simcard of in connectivity settings,
waiting a minute and switching it back on, it came with the question "continue roaming ? "..

So basicly the cause seems to be in the netwerk selection. As long as it stays on the national provider
it always works. I repeatedly acknowledged it could continue roaming, no idea why it doesn't remember.
