Driving from UK to southern Spain- Help needed. WE GOT HOME

Just booked a nice hill top Villa in southern Spain for a month to go house hunting...

Going to take fatty and drive the eastern route down through France from Calais, join the coast road near Montpellier, then down to near Almeria.

Villa booked.
P&O ferry with priority and VIP lounge booked.
New UK sticker ordered...
We already have European breakdown & full travel Insurance with out Bank Account.

It's been a few years since we drove through France and Spain so a few questions jump up...

Is it worth getting a tag for the toll booths, seams to be the latest idea..
Our car insurance (and I think most these days) only cover you for the minimum required by law when driving abroad, has anyone found a cheaper route than paying extra with our insurance provider (Admiral)
Do I remember something about needing various stickers for emissions that have to be obtained before going...
Anyone recommend a good dash holder for my iPhone as I doubt I will have time to fit the car play system I bought a while ago

And anything else anyone can think of... all suggestions and tips gratefully received

Cheers... Pete

sounds like an adventure Pete..

i have never used toll tags as paying by card or cash ..you can argue that slowing down disrupts the drive but i find it a break from the monotonous speed on the toll road...
and having a passenger to pay is handy..

the clean air sticker is called a 'crit'..info here,

I've used a tag since a road trip to the south of France back in 2016 and they are ace! No yearly fee and if I choose to go to France tomorrow then pop it back in the screen and off you go. If you don't go again for two more years then it's no stress. It just sits there awaiting your next trip... A number of weeks after your trip, you get an emailed bill and it automatically comes out of my bank... Easy peasy Pete... Thumbs Up

I use a Brodit holder for my phone. Clips to the side of the console near the ignition switch and can be unclipped and leaves no trace.

Mine is left there all the time. John

Agree with the above, get a tag, if there's any kind of queue, you'll be glad you did.
I have a Brodit clip, but attached an induction charger to it for ease. https://www.fullfatrr.com/forum/topic56346.html
Crit - you may need it, maybe not, but so cheap it's worth getting anyway.
Make sure you carry your documents - v5, MOT & Insurance
Have a fluorescent jacket in case you break down - I have one for each passenger + triangle etc.
Waze is a great satnav for your phone - dynamic routing around jams + has most speed cameras

Since the loons voted us out of Europe we now need a Green Card for full insurance cover and you need an International Driving license.

Agree on SAGA although you still need a green card but they are the only "shed" that covers you fully for 365 days a year. The only one that gets close is LV which is 6 months.

Sounds like a good trip. Enjoy. 2017 5.0 Autobiography Supercharged

Do you still need a breathalyser in France? Still got one in my glove box from a few years ago! Bish.

No requirement. They stopped it about 4 years ago. I think I've still got them in my dash pocket. 2017 5.0 Autobiography Supercharged
