If you are really stuck, remove the light and take the bulb out. Wouldn't be difficult to fit an on- switch. |

Might be worth holding the light button in for a good few seconds, the interior light button near the sunroof switch. Should disable the interior lights, until it’s held in again.

If the lights are on and the car is locked then you have an electrical fault somewhere.

Have you tried to see if the other interior lights turn off after the prescribed time? This might indicate two faults one with the timer mechanism and the second with the tailgate switch. This can I believe be affected by the alignment if the rear tailgate? 2012 tdv8 Westminster arrived Jan 19 gone Dec 23

Thinking on, the car wouldn’t lock if it thought a door or tailgate was open, so sounds like you have a short or other electrical issue somewhere.

On earlier models the boot area lighting is controlled by a switch in the upper tailgate lock motor assembly. It would be quite possible for the car to be fully locked but if the switch was faulty the boot lighting could well stay on.

Thanks guys - yes it's a 2006 SC - the problem is that the car thinks the tailgate is open. Looking inside the mechanism it seems the bar that the tailgate latch connects to has worn over time and it is now too thin for the latch to properly grip. I have popped out the lights for now but will take a proper look over the weekend. I have seen an old thread on a US forum where a guy with the same problem has used a silicone hose to increase the width of the bar that has whittled down....doesn't feel like a long term solution to me. |

Probably gonna need a better one from a breakers or something, unless you can sleeve it or something.

Not sure if the below is any help….. wonder if you do something with the electrical connector to fool it to think it’s shut? I assume it actually is shut….?
