2006 Supercharged exhaust material?

Hi guys,

Quick one, what are the exhausts / tips made out of on the Supercharged from 2006?

Reason I ask is the guy who delivered it commented on stainless exhaust, I didn't think it would come with stainless from factory.

The tips are fairly crusty looking at the moment and i'm wondering what approaches can be had to tidy them up a bit?

Anybody done anything similar?

Cheers

Ooh ok.

So in that case, they should scrub up well with a wire wheel?

Thank you.

No pics unfortunately.

According to the manual the whole system is stainless, looking at mine there is no rust anywhere on the exhaust other than on the welds and that is only a light discolouration.

The full system is mild steel! Only used stainless everywhere on the 5.0 sir… That’s why if you fit a 4.2 back box to a 5.0 it changes the tone of the exhaust quite significantly 👍

If you want to clean the exhaust tips, use some Solvol Autosol metal polish with a microfibre cloth to rub it in and then a clean one to buff it off.

It'll take a lot of elbow grease and isn't a 5 minute job but the results are well worth it!

This is my current SC that I cleaned up in April and then ceramic coated.

Stan got rid of his S/C so he didn't have to clean the tips😉 Previous cars:

Thanks guys,

I'm a bit confused and don't want to doubt you, @Cam-Tech-Craig but how do you know it's mild steel?

Cheers
Conor
