Mentioning JLR - my experience with dealers & specialists when I had an XK8 was none the better. I caught one ''reputed'' Jag specialists outfit on the UK SE south coast trying to con me out of £800 they'd slapped on the end of a service plus MOT three-week long spree but had clearly accidentally shown their own lies on the bill and, when I asked for the £800 to be removed from the bill threatening legal proceedings, they laughed and said: "Our solicitors are too on the ball for you!" I spent an hour trying to get them to remove the £800 over-kill, but they wouldn't. I phoned my lawyer outside the establishment and she said "Pay them get the bill and leave it with me!" I tried once more and then left. All they had to do was deduct the £800 they tried to con me for, but would not, as they were far too cocky and cocksure.
Four weeks later they had to pay an out-of-court (HIGH COURT - don't bother with magistrates) settlement of £16,000, of which I got what they owed me back and £500 compensation costs. I told my lawyer I wanted them to go to the high court rather then accept the out-of-court settlement, but she said (naturally) we don't if a settlement is agreed. I also had to agree not to mention the establishment and the situation for five years... Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
There are other ways at getting back at these cocky bar-stewards.
Range Rovers are great if you don't boy-racer them into the ground. Most cars are similar.
