I have been aware for a couple of months that there seems to be an issue with the ride quality of my 17MY L405 TDV8.
At about 33mph there is a feeling as if I have an oval rear wheel insofar as the car seems to oscillate causing my double chin to wobble . There is no steering wobble and all the wheel weights seem to be in place. I had the car checked at a local service centre and they said they couldn't find anything wrong at all. I called out LR Assistance who arrived in time for rush hour so almost impossible to recreate the issue given the volume of traffic. The guy was as helpful as he could be but didn't really get much of an experience. He looked at the level in the reservoir for the active anti roll system which was fine, he checked the codes and explained that the rear diff was sending fault codes describing lateral movement. I have the car booked in with the dealers for mid November in the hope they'll be offering loaners by then.
I have attached the report from LRA but don't think it tells a great deal.
Anyone else had a similar issue?

What tyres do you have ?

I have Pirelli Scorpian Verde's M+S jobbies, not silents.

Could be some sort of other tyre defect - replacing each wheel in turn with the spare would be the way to eliminate that - if you can be bothered

When I bought my Disco I had horrendous shakes at certain speeds….lots of head scratching and fortunately the tyre guy decided to take off a tyre to look. It had about a litre of liquid in it, which turned out to be the left overs from cans of tyre puncture stuff. All 4 had it in! That was enough so when you reached certain speeds, it would all stick in one place and cause the massive wobble.

The wheels and tires were fitted together about two years ago and I’ve had no issues at all from them the tyres themselves still had the pimples on and had never touched the ground so I can’t believe that anyone has used puncture foam. I did have the tyres checked for being out of shape or having damage but all checked out ok.

What about wheel balancing being out, or perhaps a slightly buckled wheel from potholes ?

The wheels and tyres were checked to be ok by a service centre where I take the family's cars, The guys there are all pretty good and had my car in early AM as a favour. They couldn't find anything.

Upper and lower rear bushes? seeing what you tow? You cannot see that they are really bad until you pull them apart?
That's what I found with mine I could not put my finger on it before I pulled them apart, now much better?

Very likely Alex. Never gave that a thought. I wonder if that’s covered on the LR extended warranty.

I would hope so considering the age of your car ( Don't tell them what you tow ) It's an easy fix for them? Parts are not too bad either less than two hundred

The warranty book states that it doesn’t cover gradual reduction in operating performance i.e. wear and tear consistent with the age and milage of the vehicle, components that may be subject to wear include but are not limited to brake discs, drums and frictional materials, suspension and steering components, clutch pressure plates, bearings and frictional materials. I’ve covered 64000 miles in 4 1/2 yrs. I would say that’s pretty normal mileage for a car that age.

With that mileage, you should be ok but you are dealing with JLR I hope you get it sorted out soon
