I doubt it has been in a prang, I reckon someone has had a go at rectifying a rusty rear wheel arch.
It does look like a DIY/amateurish job, I wouldn’t be happy!

Sorry to hear that it was not as expected? I suppose that the worse thing to find is the paint, as for the wind noise have you checked the sunroof is flush with the roofline easy fix with the button control had the same problem with mine until someone on here told me how to fix it?
Hard to find an FFRR with 50k on it so you would have to pay a bit more for it?

I don't think its a rust repair as I'd expect the dodgy paint to be on the arch and above that covered off. It could just be a scratch but I daren't polish it out as I could be in a worse position.

Yup 50k ones are rare and that's what got my attention, but only if its in great condition. No the sunroof doesn't align properly I'll look how to train it if I keep it.

The warranty letter attached seems super sketchy and seems to want to me to sign my rights away, now I've read the official guide it says 3months/3k miles and a claims limit. Hell no! It was never discussed and I'd expect my legal rights would be the minimum afforded under the Consumer Credit Act 2015!! As I say, this is from a nationwide car trader for an expensive car.

Seeing as I can be quite dispassionate on this, and assuming they honour the 7 day no questions return, perhaps I should wait for the next gen to come out and push L405s down further? Encourage alternative fuels, use all the petrol!

Wow! That is a lot of money for a standard Vogue tdv8 on 19” wheels. I traded my 12my Vogue 18 months ago for 13k and it was mint, on 20”, with 68k on the clock cor 13k, it sold on at an independent for 16k. Firenze with Ivory.

I wouldn’t accept the damage and poor prep, and would be on the phone on Monday!! The repair to the rear wing should be easy enough to get done, but I wouldn’t be paying for it…… as for the warranty, they aren’t worth the paper they are written on in most cases. Personally I tend to assume it’s sold as seen unless a MfR/approved warranty is present!

What are the tyres like? Matching? Good tread? Branded? no.. unfortunately the seem to have put a new budget Triangle tyre on the rear at least, front looks like a Pirelli. Sorry chap but for that money I would want the car in almost as new condition, with the proper boots.

As for the wind noise, as above check the sunroof is flush, and clean the seal rebound the edge, the foam bits are generally quite loose, they are supposed to be there, possibly sound deadening possibly Lr had some spare foam bits….. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Unfortunately it’s a sellers market at the moment and dealers are taking the . Folks want to buy the cars, which is fine and that’s pushing up the prices, which is basic economics, but these older 322’s are only EU5 complaint and that’s going to cause issues over the next 5 years or so as more and more towns and cities introduce clean air zones, which is one of the reasons I sold my 322 when I did.

It’s not just 322’s which are demanding silly money at the moment, all cars are. My 405 has increased in value sine I bought it. I don’t think it’s a trend which will continue for ever though. At some point the bottom will drop out of them, and like every bubble those who bought at the top will lose out most. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Yeah prices are crazy, but at this crazy time I think this is the cheapest one at the mileage. As I'm planning to keep it for several years and got super cheap finance, I'm okay with that. As for EU5, I live in Norfolk and have 0% interest in going to cities, so long as there's no ban on owning them.

19's are kind of little, but the alloys are basically mint and the tyres are new; Pirelli Scorpions on front and ditch finders Triangle SUV at the rear) and given my super low miles planned for the L322 I still may never wear them out, so its not economically viable to swop to 20's.

I've been is discussions with the dealer and gave them until today to sort it, otherwise I could return without question within 7 days.
I didn't want to return it tbh, as it drives sooo nice and it should should fit in my garage (which excludes L405 now and forever)

They're going to :-
Replace the diesel they used driving it to me (worth its weight in gold right now)
Refund £400 that I pushed for lack of use, time and trouble etc. Yeah they're still making a killing, but I don't think I could have pushed for more.
Confirmed my consumer rights not affected by their own policies.
Sort out the foam blocks loose in engine bay.
Sort out the sunroof excess wind noise with shade open, sunroof doesn't look flush with roof when closed.
Sort out excess wind noise passenger side (possibly related to the loose foam blocks?)
Front grill excessively lacquer peeling and needs replacing. Suspect they'll somehow relacquer the bottom of the grill.
Remove hard glue from where rear number plate surround was.
Missing tyre valve cap from near side rear tyre.
Full valet on the vehicle including headlining and engine bay.
Replace the damaged integrated mud flaps.
Correct the paintwork issue on the rear wing.
Investigate/repair or replace the housing that is loose in the engine bay
Transport the vehicle to and from me
Restart 7 day return option once vehicle re-delivered.

So all being well, I get my L322 back and get to bond with it welll static like, as there's no fuel where I live  Encourage alternative fuels, use all the petrol!

Well the transport came to pick up the L322 last week, where its sat for just over a week to avoid the garage saying I'd accepted it. The battery was flat and the starter just clunked. The transpo didnt have a jump pack, so it was aborted and I was fuming.
Then I calmed down and charged up the battery and went off looking for fuel. Went to 3 stations and only got £30 limit on fuel, but at last I experienced my car properly. Loved it, although I find the steering way too light; I wobbled and wandered across the road just finding the sunroof switch. Booted it to 70 a couple of times and I didnt see any smoke and was finally having a bonding moment.
A couple of days later I went to find some more fuel, but clunk so battery/starter again, so called the dealer, who is actually being helpful and they picked it up today (once I charged the battery again) so we'll see what they find. Encourage alternative fuels, use all the petrol!

I think the saying goes most cars have had paint at some point, I’ve had two brand new cars that I’ve later discovered touch up’s on. One was a Seat that looked like they had used tipex and the other was a BMW where a lower bumper had been painted… that’s before they even hit the road! That being said it needs to be done right so glad to see your pushing back.

Sunroof just needs resetting via the tilt switch. In owners handbook how to do.

Yeah I know the sunroof should be an easy fix, but Im minimising any meddling in it for now.
The garage collected the car and fixed the paintwork and peeling grill and sent it to Stratstones Land Rover to sort some other issues. They couldnt find any charging issues, but they'll change out the battery for a new one as a precaution.
Hopefully that should give me some much needed confidence, seeing as its let me down twice in 25 miles, luckily both times on my drive.
I've snagged a decent dog guard for cheap and ordered some wheel centre caps and sill protectors to clean it up, so looking forward to getting my L322 back.
I did contact the local LR deal for 3+ service prices, which were ludicrous, so Ill do whatever servicing I can. Encourage alternative fuels, use all the petrol!
