2007 L322 TPMS Reinstatement | |
I know most people will tell me not to bother, but I'm going too anyway
Years ago we had a tyre blow out in the 2012 AB when it had done 2,800 miles. Whilst towing, somewhere between Welwyn Garden City and Doncaster on the A1, it had picked up a nail on the move and the tyre had slowly deflated. The car didn't feel any different and the first thing we knew about it was a noise after the tyre had blown out. It was a rear tyre, and thankfully the near side as it happened on the dual carriageway section of the A1.
It meant unhitching the trailer with a car on it, jacking the car, and then swapping the wheel whilst wagons were passing by. Unfortunately, the 2012 despite being an AB didn't have the TPMS system spec'd on it.
So... my 2007 has all the kit present for TPMS other than the tyre valves. As it's on LPG, it doesn't have a spare wheel so the thought of knowing when a tyre was slightly soft when on a long trip is quite appealing.
I'm either going to be changing my wheels or having the SC wheels refurbished back to the original LR Sparkle Silver finish in the next few weeks so I'm thinking about doing both at the same time.
The CCF has had the TPMS turned off so my initial thoughts were to re-enable it and see if any codes other then the missing wheel sensors turned up. I then remembered that I have a set of 4 Land Rover TPMS valves in the garage but I'm unsure if they're L322 ones or if they're even compatible with the L322 or not.
The Land Rover part number is LR066378.
So, I guess I have 2 questions:
1. Are the above sensors L322 ones or even compatible with the kit on the L322?
2. As my vehicle has an LPG tank in the spare wheel well, can I tell the system that the spare wheel isn't fitted so I don't have a constant TPMS light on the dashboard?
Thanks,
