ZF 8-speed auto box service at main dealer?

Anyone ever have their 8-speed automatic ZF gearbox serviced at a main dealer? If so how much did it cost?

I just received a quote for 1400€ (1200GBP) from my dealer. Nearly twice as much as ZF charged me back in 2018.

My local ZF workshops have since stopped servicing the 8-speed box. Instead they have farmed out the work to independent workshops acting as ZF partners. However the Google reviews of these in my area (Germany) leave a lot to be desired so I thought I'd inquire about the cost at my main LR dealer. I know they only do the oil and filter change but I thought it's still worth doing after 50000km since the last service.

The dealer also quotes for 10.5 litres of ZF oil whereas the ZF shop only used 8 litres last time. 2012 Vogue 4.4 TDV8 automatic (LHD), Santorini Black

Cheaper to drive to the UK and have it done here.
Dartford Transmissions and Autocare are relatively close to the Eurotunnel. Gone to a good home: 2011 4.4 TDV8 Vogue SE Buckingham Blue with Ivory and clear glass = "Rory"

The main dealer quote is ridiculous.
The correct oil & pan can't be more than 300 euros and the labour time isn't that long if you exclude the time waiting for it to drain.
You also don't know if they will do the job inside their workshop with their "skilled technicians" (🤣🤣) / apprentice or send it out to another local low cost garage they use for "dirty" jobs!
My local LR dealer moved my car to another local garage to do brake hose warranty replacement! Paul,

Yep, chances are they will take it to the poor review ZF shop and put their mark up on top of it so you end up with a poor job at twice the price...

It's an awful predicament to be in..... Sad Pete

A couple of weeks ago I got the kit for my ZF 6 speed box. It came via this company from ZF. It had everything required for the the gearbox change including 6 litres of fluid. All in a ZF box with full instructions from ZF.

They also do a kit for the 8-speed box including 7 litres of ZF8 fluid.

"Toutes les pièces sont d'origine ZF".

Would come to you without customs etc John

Thanks for the feedback, everyone. For that price I'm reluctant to use the main dealer.

Can you recommend them? I'm coming to the UK soon so it could be an option. 2012 Vogue 4.4 TDV8 automatic (LHD), Santorini Black

Both are well regarded in the UK Range Rover fraternity.

Also worth considering is Alltrack 4x4 in Malvern, depending on where you're going in the UK.

Additionally, Ian Bodsworth can do a megaflush for you and he's mobile, have a look on Facebook for him.

Dunc. The life you have is the only one you'll get; make the most of it.

If you are coming to the UK and you plan to get the gearbox serviced whilst you are here, then it would be a good idea to tell folks if you are planning to travel via the channel tunnel / ports - or travelling via the Hook of Holland / Hull route.

That way members could advise you as to the nearest reputable business, close to your UK destination for the service. Thumbs Up

Thanks for the feedback. I've booked an appointment with Dartford as it's kind of on my way when I exit the tunnel Smile 2012 Vogue 4.4 TDV8 automatic (LHD), Santorini Black
